My Virtual Journey
In 2014 my boss fired me, went home with no money, no clue what to do next; but was free at last.
Things happened very fast, though in the process learned a very important lesson.
You can take money, food, comfort, freedom from a man, but that means nothing to a person with a #Vision.
My world was shut down in a meeting that lasted less than 5 minutes. It was hard to swallow the hard truth staring at me. Every nerve in me was numbed by the news.
Fast forward! The virtual journey was birthed. The transition from 8 to 5 system to working online put a new excitement and light which has continued to brighten my life and others.

Hey there! I’m Duncan, the founder of Newbie Block and Virtual Assistant School.
It’s 8 years ago, but feels like yesterday. I used to work for a company and though was tasked with a role of managing people more learned than me, the process of waking up daily to commute really did suck.
I hated the idea of repeating the same thing again and again every day. Working from 8 in the morning to 8 PM.
I can’t remember having some warm moments with my family after work. Because I would be extra tired and only my bed could understand the weight of my pain.
My boss was constantly breathing down my neck...
… Only bills that made me to report to work. I wanted to quit, but didn’t know how, and while in that undecided state, my boss FIRED ME!
It felt good and sad at the same time.
The next following weeks were not easy one. I was broke. stressed and lost.
My Virtual Assistant Journey Encounter
Now, my brother in-law used to work online as a academic writer. The idea of working online from home back then was foreign language only the smart guys could decipher.
I paid him a visit one day, and while having tete a tete, he jokingly said “Duncan, I want to train you to be working online”
These words changed my life and whether he said it jokingly or not, something inside me came back to life.
The only interaction with the online world was catching up with friends and family on Facebook.
Everything was strange, especially the idea of earning online, HOW?
I ventured into academic writing for 3 months and lost $500 to a scammer.
I shifted quickly to content writing and received my first $30. It was sweet! Later I would win big projects, but I still remember vividly the day I received my first online payment.
Through trial and error, I started pursuing virtual assistant journey for it felt as a cool career. It took me a whole year, before gaining confidence to onboard clients. I googled everything googleable on the web.
I took several courses here and there to outstand and it paid off. Clients were coming and for the first time I reversed the game. I was no longer chasing clients all over the web, instead they were sending offer via emails and social media.
My motto was “forward ever, backward never” things had to work by force because nothing good I could return to.
Phew! Finally success came, and it was good. That’s when I decided to start a community that empowers other VA beginners and VA professionals to build their virtual career effortlessly without any hindrance standing against them.

He hates flying the flag of SUCCESS alone, and the reason for Virtual Assistant Community and Newbie Block champs.

I understand how stepping out on a new and unfamiliar platform makes you feel, and for a fact, I also felt the same way, but I had to shove that fear and face the online giant head on.

I struggled to get a digestible information to feed my online hunger pangs. Eventually, my persistence wore out resistance giant that was pushing me back.
What I Did To Come Out of This Exhausting & Hopeless Route of Life?
I fought my way up by learning from the big names in the industry, asked questions, applied what I learned, and paid courses until the dosage was effective enough.
That contributed to my current status and success. Lucky for you, everything is well analyzed and what you are required to do is just follow the process step by step.
There is no award without putting even a slight fight, therefore focus and be bold enough to accomplish all that you have ever wished to become.
The line that separates success and failure is very thin. You will fail if you stop pursuing your dream, and you will succeed if you refuse to look back.

So, I urge you to embrace this journey in one spirit and before long, you will be writing your story. I am a living testimony that hard work pays, but, I suggest you apply smart approach.
Years back I was walking barefoot on a thorny path. Today, serving yourself with all actionable steps is the only energy you require. Anything else you hear outside there, forget it.
